Located in the middle of the Castro District, The Bar on Castro is one of those rare bars that is able to attract locals as well as tourists.
When the bar first opened it was known as a spot for the sleek and stylish to come by and lounge around on the couches, chairs and ottomans. Things have changed in the past few years and that trendy and chic club have since retreated and left for the dance clubs that have popped up. The bar not attracts a more Alternative lifestyle type of crowd.
Since there isn't really any dance floor to speak of, you are going to have to get your boogey on in the back of the bar. Just move some of the furniture around and you can get your groove on while you listen to some of the finest small name DJ's around. DJ's often spin a combination of mellow down tempo and hip-hop. Since the bar is small, you will find that the sound quality is a lot better than at many of the near by dance clubs.
For those that just want to kick back with a few friends, the bar has a couple of tables and chairs located by the patio that is right up front. The patio is opened up during the summer so patrons can enjoy the warm nights. You can also hang out in the back and shoot a couple of games of pool.
For those that don't want to have to deal with the long lines or are just allergic to the overwhelming smell of cologne, then The Bar on Castro is the place to go.
