For those that are in town and are seeking for something to do, you may want consider checking out one of the longest running productions in San Francisco, "Beach Blanket Babylon."
Running for over 22 years "Beach Blanket Babylon" features one of the wackiest stories ever to be told on a stage. The musical features several storylines with one of the most frequent one focuses on Dorothy from the "Wizard of Oz" fame. Audience members will watch as Dorothy searches for love in a variety of places starting from Paris and taking her all the way to Tokyo. Along the way Dorothy encounters an eclectic group of friends such as Prince, Madonna and Elvis.
Considered to be one of the most beloved landmark in San Francisco, the musical continues to amuse its audiences with not only its witty and sharp script, but also with its costumes and props. Perhaps the most famous of the costumes includes a hat which depicts the San Francisco skyline and measures eight and a half feet wide.
The show runs from Wednesday through SundayOf course perhaps the best feature is that the kids can enjoy the show on a Sunday matinee. Just a word of warning, the musical has become quite popular and thus sold outs shows have become the norm. People wanting to attend are advised to make their reservations early. The best time to take in the show is during the winter. Where else can you see a Christmas tree do a litte tap dance routine.
