Hotel doormen are starting to become a vanishing breed in California, but at the Sir Francis Drake the doorman is still part of the norm.

History buffs may also like the Drake as it has several interesting historical facts. When the hotel opened in 1928 each room had a tap just for ice water, guestrooms had panels in the doors so hotel staff could deliver packages without bothering the guests and each floor had chutes that would collect postcards on a daily basis.
