Sometimes staying in a luxury hotel doesn't have to cost an arm and a leg. The King George Hotel is the perfect example of that as it features everything you could possibly want from a hotel at a price that you can live with.

Located at Union Square the hotel is just a short stroll from gourmet restaurants, world class shopping and a Cable Carline which is ready to whisk visitors down to Fisherman's Wharf.

Opened in 1914, the hotel has become known for its tea service which is offered on the weekend. The hotel's lobby is also a tribute to turn of the century style and class. The lobby is decorated with velvet curtains, rich leather couches, marble sculptures and oil paintings of the royal family. For those that are looking for something that isn't on the room service menu, try taking a trip over the Lorr's which is a 1950's style diner located right next door to the hotel.

If you are making the trip to Lorr's you might as well walk the two extra block and make a night of it by getting a couple of drinks at the Redwood Room. The nightclub was opened in 1934 and has become one of the places to be seen following its $50 million renovation.

With its darkwood furniture, quality linens and modern decor each of the guestrooms feature a distinct European flavor. Each room features crown moldings, high ceilings, antique style bathrooms and high-speed Internet access. The rooms also come with candy jars which are perfect for those times that you get a sugar craving.
