Zeum
4th Street and Howard
San Francisco, CA 94103
With two floors and six areas, Zeum has something for any family that is looking for something to do.
Visitors can choose from media areas such as animation, video production, visual arts, performance and sound production. Zeum gives you the chance to try their hand at composing soundtracks, make a music video or trying your hand with digital art.
Take a trip to the animator's studio and follow in the footsteps of Steven Speilberg. Guests will take their characters from their imagination and transform them into wire and clay. They will select their own stage, and begin filming through stop motion animation. Once you have finished your movie, feel free to burn the movie to a DVD and take it home for future viewing.
For those that want to become an American Idol, head on over to the music production lab. You can pick your favorite tune and costume before heading up to the stage. For those that want to handle the behind the camera aspect, you can add digital backgrounds as well as changing camera angles.
The Digital workshop gives you the chance to really get the creative juices flowing. You get the chance to use computers to manipulate digital photos, combine photos or design your own illustration. It's the perfect place to design your own CD cover or magazine cover. Best of all you can print out your artwork and hang it up on the walls.
Roundabout is a virtual reality game where you have to use all your body to move a marble through a maze the size of a room. The maze is a computer generated image that is shown on the floor and "tilts" can appear from nowhere and cause your marble to fall into a virtual hole.
At Zeum you get the chance to feel like a pro at everything you do while still being able to learn something new. Best of all you are left with something that is truly unique to take home and call your own.
