Sausalito
Published On: May 11, 2006

With its Mediterranean accents and laying across the Golden Gate Bride, Sausalito reminds many people of the French Riviera and is well worth a trip for visitors of all ages. Just be sure to take time to enjoy the artistic ambiance of this waterfront town. Wander through the variety of shops and restaurants that line the bay area.

Families that choose to make the trip might want to stop by the Bay Model Visitor Center and check out the 1.5 acre model of the Bay which has been known to simulate currents, tides and river inflows. The Bay Area Discovery Museum is the perfect place for those with kids under 10 years old. Visitors can find numerous hands on exhibits in science, art and much more.

Once you get done checking out the visitor's center, you may want to head out for some outdoor fun in the sun. Try heading out for some water sports such as kayaking, fishing, sailing, boat tours and dinner cruises. In case you are a little bit sea sick, you can stay on land and have just as much fun. Feel free to check out a local winery where you can see how wine is made first hand. There is also a plentiful supply of artists and galleries.

For those that are looking to take a break from the hectic city and just want to head out somewhere that they can enjoy the beauty of nature, Sausalito is the place for you.
