Oceanic Society
Fort Mason Center
San Francisco, CA

For over 30 years the Oceanic Society has provided visitors with an education in environmental issues that concern the ocean's wildlife.
Experts take visitors through educational tours that go over the natural history, animal habitats and includes a whale watching tour. The whale watching tours are not only a great chance for adults to learn something about the whales, but they have proven to be both educational and entertaining for children 10 and older.
The six and a half tours are led by an expert naturalist and patrons are given a glimpse into the life of the gray whale as well as the role that the whale plays in the environment. Once believed to be on the verge of extinction, the gray whales have now made their way back to a healthy population. Guests are taught what they can do to make sure that they keep off the endangered species list.
In order to make sure that you get the chance to catch a glimpse of the whales, tours are held December-May while the whales make their way from San Francisco to Baja.
For those that are looking to get a lesson in the environment and what they can do to help some of the most beautiful creatures on the planet, the Oceanic Society is the perfect place to do a little learning while still have a great time.
