Searching for something to do with the kiddies? Well, nothing can entertain kids as much as animals. That is why the Oakland Zoo is the perfect place for families to spend the day exploring and learning.
Located in the middle of Knowland Park, the Oakland Zoo is 525 acres and home to more than 450 plants and animals.
Finding your way around the zoo isn't terribly hard as animals are arranged by geographic regions. Whether it be North America, Asia, Africa or Australia, you can be sure that you are going to find your favorite animal.
While being able to watch the animals play, eat and sleep in their habitats can be fun and fascinating, nothing can compare with the opportunity to get up close and personal with one. At the Children's Zoo, kids get the chance to see what lemurs, tortoises, otters, fruit bats, alligators and tarantulas are really all about. Families can also get a bird's eye view of the park by taking a special sky ride.
The zoo isn't just all about present day life, it also give visitors the chance to go back in time and see what kind of animals roamed the area in 1820 as the West was still undiscovered.
No matter if you have kids or are just looking for a fun way to spend the day while still learning a few things, the Oakland Zoo is a must.
