Lombard Street
San Francisco, CA

Even though San Francisco is known for places such as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz, there is something else that you will only see in San Francisco. That is Lombard Street, America's crookedest street.
This steep, hilly street was designed with sharp curves to cut back and forth down the one way street paved with bricks. For an idea of how steep the street really is, visitors have to go two blocks up and peer down over the ridge. From this view point they get a chance to see how dangerous the street can be as if it were not for some of the curves it would be very easy for people to get killed by rolling down the street. This view also offers a perfect bird's eye view of other San Francisco tourist stops such as Fisherman's Wharf, Alcatraz, Bay Bridge and Ghirardelli Square.
For those that want to get the best photo op, you may want to venture down to the bottom. From this viewpoint you can get shots of cars as they slowly make their way down the street, images of those that dare to make the trek up the street on foot and some of the beautiful landscape that is filled with flowers in full bloom.
For those that are craving an experience that will stay with them long after they leave the city, take a cab ride down Lombard at night. You will agree that it is better than some roller coasters.
