Japantown
Geary Blvd. between Fillmore and Laguna St
San Francisco, CA

Most people that come to San Francisco already know about Chinatown, but there is another cultural neighborhood that specializes in a taste of the Pacific, that is Japantown.
Home to more than 12,000 Japanese descendents, Japantown is one of the city's most colorful international neighborhoods.
While most tourist attractions are fairly large in size, Japantown is a relatively small neighborhood which makes it possible to take in all of the sights and attractions in just a few hours. Most visitors choose to start their sigh seeing at the Japan Center. The five acre complex is full of theaters, hotels, sushi bars and shops. Shopper will really love the shops as they can pick up everything from silk kimonos and tea all the way to authentic Japanese arts and crafts.
For those that choose to make their trip in April, be sure to make some time to check out the Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival which is held at the Japan Center. The festival features activities for people of all ages, including a parade, martial arts demonstrations, musical performances and delicious food.
For those that are looking for a little taste of the Orient or just want to experience one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in San Francisco, Japantown is waiting for you. It will leave you with an experience that you will never forget.
