Hyde Street Pier
Beach St at Polk St
San Francisco, CA

Whether you are a history buff or just somebody that can't get enough of ships and sail boats, Hyde Street Pier is one of the top attractions in San Francisco.
Hyde Street Pier proves that it not only serves as a valuable role in maritime history, but it is also capable of entertaining the whole family. For the boat lover, the pier is home to six ships that have cemented their place in history. Feel free to check out the 1886 square-rigger Balchuta, 1907 steam tug Hercules, 1890 steam ferryboat Eureka, 1895 schooner C.A. Thayer, 1914 paddlewheel tug, Eppleton Hall and a 1891 scow schooner Alma.
Of course those six ships aren't the only boats the pier has. There are more than 100 small boats that are used to introduce visitors to the wonders of what goes into building boats as well as give insights into various boating trades.
When it comes to family activities, the Hyde Street Pier offers a variety of interpretive programs. Programs include things such as a "singing tour" of one of the ships as well as a woodworking class. To make things even better, many of the programs are geared towards children.
No matter if you have a love affair with the ocean and the boats that travel it, or are just looking to spend the day soaking up the sun while checking out some historic ships, the Hyde Street Pier is the perfect place to take the family and just enjoy the day.
