Fisherman's Wharf
No trip to San Francisco would be complete without a trip to Fisherman's Wharf. Known for its amazing seafood and breathtaking views, the wharf has a little something for everybody.
If shopping is the name of your game then you might want to take the time to stop in some of the unique storefronts that line the wharf or head on over to The Anchorage Shopping center which is home to more than 30 specialty shops. If you aren't looking to pay retail prices then you may want to consider buying that perfect souvenir from a street vendor, whether it's a Tye-Dye shirt or wind chimes, the street vendors have what you are looking for.
For the sight seeing lover, the views have got be experienced firsthand to be believed as the wharf offers up some of the best views in the city. You have your choice of taking in the San Francisco Bay, the Golden Gate Bridge , Coit Tower and of course nobody can go to San Francisco without taking a look at the legendary Alcatraz.
The biggest attraction of the wharf has to be Pier 39 as it hosts over 10 million visitors a year. The pier houses more than 110 shops and 11 bay view restaurants. If you aren't in the mood for eating then perhaps a guided cruise along the bay or a trip to watch the sea lions is more your speed. Looking for a place to drop the kids, the pier has one of the largest game arcades in San Francisco that comes with a carousel. For the chocolate lover there is Ghirardelli Square which is home to the famous chocolate factory.
With all these choices it's easy to see why the Fisherman's Wharf is such a popular place for tourists and locals alike. There is always something for everybody no matter if you are looking for something to eat, see, or do.
