Angel Island

Wanting to get away from the hectic, frentic pace of the big city and craving a little bit more of a relaxed side of Sam Francisco? Then head out to Angel Island.
Covering 740 acres and featuring lush grassy hillsides and thick forests, Angel Island is the largest island in the San Francisco Bay. The island has become known as a favorite spot for views of Marin County, San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. While the island is the perfect place to do some camping, biking, hiking or camping, it also provides a rich history lesson.
For over six thousand years Angel Island was used by Miwok Indians for a fishing and hunting site. More recently it has been used as various military installations. Troops making their way to and from the Pacific Theaters during WWI and WWII were stationed here. The island played a big role in the settlement of the west as it served as a Quarantine and immigration station.
Trails and fire roads now provide guests easy access to the whole island where they can spend their time exploring the historic sites and awe-inspiring views. For those that are looking for a little bit more info, the island offers a variety of guided tours.
Angel island provides the perfect chance for guests to get away from the hustle and bustle of the smog filled city and enjoy the day in the beauty of nature.
